just testing the water here but who agrees that in order to improve our performances from last year we must practice before games rather than sitting in the club house talking about what we are going to do. let me know if you agree or disagree!! i just feel its important we get out of this league asap!!!!!

I agree.

Also on weekday practice evenings... too much standing about not enough effort being put in to the job in hand.

If people wana have a chat - open the bar after .
Play pool darts etc etc .. .....

I agree,

If more people turn up to nets during the week then i dont think there will be as much chatting, there are times where there were only 2 or 3 people bowling for over an hour and they some of them dont even bowl in matches, this is not good practice for the people who are batting!!

Perhaps have training on saturday morning before the game which will help get peoples eye in and most people dont work saturday so more people should turn up.

we know we shouldnt be in this league but if we dont practice then we wont get better.  to many people think they can just turn up and be able to play at a good standard.  it would also be good if some of the senior players come down to practice and help people out showing them what they need to be doing. you are not going to learn much when you are facing people who are not bowlers.

good input james!!

sat morns sounds good... definately worth thinkin bout.

waste of time facing some of the idiots who turn up to bowl. they are more of a hinderance than a benefit to be honest.

lets sort ourselves out and get out of this savage standard!!!

scoring more runs than ur opponent wins matches, not practise btw!

Personally I wouldn’t practice Saturday morning as I have things to do before the Afternoon is taken up playing the game.

I think is unrealistic for everyone to turn up in the week for practice same as Saturday morning.

So by giving two options this gives everyone the opportunity to turn up.

In my opinion it is down to the Club Captain to make sure practice is taken seriously and organised properly.
If he needs help, he should seek that from his vice or 2nd / 3rd XL skippers.

Standing about chatting should not be tolerated, and it’s about time some discipline was introduced.

Fielding is an integral part of the game and we should practice this at training also.

If you want chat and stand about go to Monkey hut or something !!!!....

also practicing saturday mornings could lead to bowlers being burned out before the game and not having the pace they need. practicing and warming up are two different things and should be kept apart.

well i cant attend any net session during the week so if that means not being picked so be it.....will find sumwhere else.

ive been to nets week in week out and wasted more hours of my life down there being mugged off bowling at every1 and not batting (by choice) and batsman fail to turn up and bat properly.... so im sorry i aint wasting time bowling at people for them to play big hoiks across the line and bat like a twat wen they simply wudnt do the same in a match....

2 practise days isnt realistic tho is it....

3 ppl on a weds nite and 4 ppl on a saturday simply isnt an option is it?! jus means 2 days of practise has been wasted as opposed to one.

who eva is captain needs to be organised and actually say right this is wen nets r!

You are never ever going to get to a point where if you don’t turn up for practice you won’t be picked that is unrealistic.
At no stage has anyone said that on this topic…….

If practice is decided for Saturday mornings fine, I won’t be attending, but then I would organise my own practice by getting the bowling machine out with a few others during the week when I am available.
It really get’s down to if people want to improve their skills they will…..simple as.

time will tell.......................

just annoyin when people turn up to bowl and have idiots to bowl at, or people who simply think they r the nuts and try hit the casing off the ball every ball when they simply wouldnt do it in a match.

wud be good to see some actual pace bowlers at nets as i dont recall the last time any first team bowlers actually turned up............

It is annoying Stu, but you get out of practice what you put in....

As you say time will tell....

I agree with Simon, you cant have full blown practice on a saturday morning, all the bowlers will be f**ked by the time the game comes around... !!

i generally think sat morns r a gd idea..... most ppl r off and i think it gets  abit of team bonding bit of a laugh etc b4 a match....gets ppl in the club aswell. i think the new elected captain should be on here jus like davis was last yr.

anyway, who turned up last nite? good turnout?

Personally for these reasons I don’t think Saturday morning training is ideal, but like I said there is nothing stopping anyone practicing when they like.

1. People have families and need to spend some of Saturday at home, not everyone is young and doesn't have any other responsibilities other than cricket on a sat.
2. Risk of injury and burn out before a match in the afternoon, especially if bowlers are running in full pelt.
3. Midweek training offers an opportunity for the 1st / 2nd / 3rd XL’s to select their sides.
4. Personally I would prefer the club used more after the match than before.

These are all my own personal views and certainly have no objection to when anyone wants to train because that can only benefit their own game.

this was davis idea and im 100% behind it...

£6 match fee inc a free pint

idea is to get ppl in club after game. if they dnt want their pint then uve jus paid extra £2 for nothin....way it shud be

bout time we turned potential into ability...............

we need to produce wat we r capable of and not say wat we shud do and could have done, had enuff of losing games to *+#< teams lets gets a fkin team together and not 11 individuals.

shud get behind eachother and not want other people to do badly, cant memba last time we had games without bickerin or arguin amongst ourselves. nice of the new skipper to get on ere n show some intent for the season..............................................................................

F**ing hell it's taken me ages to read all this!! If we put as much effort into the games as we do into the comments on this forum then I don't think we will need to practice at all !! Look forward to seeing you all soon.
