1st XI vs Little Bardfield 26/5/07Harwich fall to second defeat
Harwich played Little Bardfield on Saturday but sadly came away with only 6 points.
Losing the toss and being put into field Bardfield soon started collecting boundaries. Semple was brought on as early as the 14th over and managed to gain the breakthrough wicket. Runs however kept coming for Bardfield and they moved the scoreline to 142-3 off 28 with Semple and King sharing the next two wickets, the latter from a fine catch by Garner. With a big score looming Harwich knuckled down, fielders ably supporting bowlers, and restricted Bardfield to 217-9 off 45 with Semple taking a fine 6-47 and King 3-77.
This looked very gettable and, although they lost Bilton early, Jackson and Skipper Davis moved the score to 51-1 off 11. The introduction of Bass saw Jackson return a simple catch to the bowler for 26 and Davis soon after for 19. Barwood and Goff also both got starts but fell when on 25 respectively. The rest of the Harwich line-up were soon back in the pavillion and finally Harwich were all out for 128 leaving them 6th and with an average of 12 points. Hopefully winning ways will return against bottom club Ipswich and E.S. this saturday
