Harwich made the long trip to Mildenhall with a few new faces and elected to bat after winning the toss.
Disaster struck early on for the visitors, as the in-form John Lawrence was run out for 0 with the total on just 7. This brought second eleven debutant Martin Bransbry to the crease and he, together with opener Joe Warner, began to build a useful partnership.
However, this was brought to an end when the latter was given out LBW off the bowling of youngster Coverdale. Bransbry followed shortly after in an almost identical dismissal to the same bowler for a battling 22. Matt Tye continued his comeback, but was unable to build on a good start to his innings.
The Harwich batsmen were struggling to cope with the young pace attack of Mildenhall and wickets fell at an alarming rate. Andy Carmichael and Sam Felgate came in and played some nice strokes, before the former was caught at mid-wicket after being too early on his shot, off the bowling of Allen.
The away side were finally dismissed in the 38th over when Armstrong was caught behind and the total was just 111.
Harwich captain Ray Lovett had his bowling options limited, particularly in light of having so few runs to play with.
The home openers took a liking to everything Harwich could throw at them, and made short work of chasing down the total, achieving it in just the 18th over. Taylor made rapid progress to reach 60 not out. Tommy Armstrong was the pick of the Harwich attack.
This Saturday, Harwich Seconds will be looking to get back to winning ways at home to Felixstowe at Low Road, 2pm start.
