First XI denied victory by weatherHarwich 1sts vs Achillies
Harwich went in this game with a few players unavailable but still confident of making it 3 wins out of 3 and staying at the top of Division 5.
Having lost the toss Harwich were put into bat where Jimmy Goff, having come back from carrying many a suitcase, showed us he has added some more muscle to his shots, with a very brisk 18 including a very nice 6 before being unluckly bowled by a non-bouncing half-tracker. 22-1 soon became 36-6 as opposition bowler Harris kept finding the dodgy patches on the pitch, taking Eaton, Mark Barwood and Moors for 4,0 and 7 respectively. Skipper Davis went out and decided attacking was the best option by hitting a 6 and 2 4's before a slower ball from Harris found the back of his bat and was caught superbly by Green for 18. With the score on 59-7 and a King/Semple combo at the crease Harwich were just getting into their stride, with a large total looming the heavens opened and caused the game (after an hour of waiting for the opposition to finally realise they were not going to get a chance to continue being punished by our batsmen) to be abandoned and Harwich's 19.5 pt average remains in tact.
Thanks again to Matty Goff for scoring and we now go into the biggest game of the season so far...and possibly of the entire season away to Copdaock 2nds....Come on lads lets make it 3 wins out of 3!!
