Harwich 1st XI vs Stowmarket 1st XIHarwich lose to promotion chasing Stowmarket.
Harwich travelled in murky conditions to 2nd place Stowmarket hoping to turn the form tables around and find a win. Having won the toss and opted to bat Dan Goff and Mark Barwood quickly got stuck into the opposition attack, Daniel Goff in particularly enjoying himself with a 4 and a 6. However Goff went for one big hit to many and was well caught for 15. Poole came in and with Barwood pushed the score along before Barwood was out stumped, trying to up the run-rate, for a very well played 49. Moors then entered the fray and hit a quick 36 before him and Poole (37) got out trying to keep the run-rate above 4 an over. Good knocks from King and Semple, who took 16 off the last over, pushed Harwich to a respectable 170-8 off 40 overs. Stowmarket came out not only looking to win but to win quick before the rain came, sadly Harwich could not contain the hitting ability of Ramamturga or Gill and they moved the score on to 91 off only 13 overs. Senple and skipper Davis soon removed both with the score still on 91 but Stowmarkets batsmen were fuelled by the quick start and reached the target with no more losses and with 14 overs remaining. This win puts them joint top and Harwich ever closer to the drop zone. Harwich entertain Wivenhoe next week hoping to repeat their win over them from earlier this season, the last win Harwich achieved this season.
