NEW GAME IDEA?!?!?!?!
Welcome to the Harwich & Dovercourt CC Stat Attack competition, which will be running throughout the 2007 season. With entry being only £5 a team or 3 teams for £10, there’s no reason not to enter several teams!
All you need to do is guess where each of the three league teams will finish in their respective divisions and guess the top run scorer and wicket taker in each team. Each correct guess earns five points except the highest total which earns TEN points, in the event no-one guessing the score the points will be split, 9 pts for the closed either above or below, 8 pts for the second closest and 7 pts for the 3rd closest.
Finally guess the correct highest score by an individual during the season in any league for Harwich & Dovercourt CC (not out innings and completed innings count as the same). In the event of no-one getting the exact score, then the closest score(s) either above or below will gain the split points as above.
In total that makes 10 choices, with a points awarded for each correct guess. The person with the most points will be the winner. In the event of a tie-breaker it will be decided by the highest points collected in the match day Stat-Attack.
Prize money will be awarded with the top team getting 40% of all takings, 2nd place 20% of all takings and 3rd place receiving 10% of all takings. The remainder goes to the Club funds.
Entries must in by (TBC) either on this form returned to ---------------, via any team captain with payment or via email to -------------------. Payment must be made by the (TBC)

i think a weekly 1 would be better so you get different winners each week ie most wicket n run scorers in each side n weekends top fielder n team hu won by most pound a week seems fair

Hi Sam
although I like the idea...and the week by week thing was partly my idea. it does seem just too complicated.
How about each week people pay 50p (if they wish to enter) and have to guess all three teams innings score. 1st, 2nds 3rds. The closest on each gets 1 point. These points get added up until the end of the season. if any games is called off then no points scored....if a complete washout then all money returned for that weekend (or a rollover lol).
so someone who guesses every score correctly and all games are played would get 18 games x 3 teams = 54 points.
The alternative to games like this is the raffle board or bus stop. views please
Sam great you are thinking of things like this keep it up

i think a weekly sweepstakewould be better on top runs scorer every playin member goes in if u draw some1 not selected for tht weekend u cnt win jus bad luck this way sum1s winning money each week. if u get some1 playing twice in a weekend obviously ull get 2 chances of top scoring

you may have stumbled across the answer.... of combining the fantasy league with sams game
before the season starts all the players available from the fantasy team game go into a hat and people pay 3/4/5 pounds to draw a name.
whichever player gets the most individual fantasy points ovr the year - whoever holds that name wins at the end of the year. Now if all 46 names are taken thats 230 quid (if it was 5 quid)
could have 75 quid for the sweepstake winner. 25 quid to the actual player and 130 quid to the club
the sweepstake board could go up on the message board

top idea lee, think that will work, why not raise it to 100 for the winner and 25 for the acual person for £5 a go.
another idea, just remembered it from my abberton days, it think aaron accually won it one year!! (as in the highest ducks) "duck club" all names are put into a hat £5 a name, end of season who ever has the ticket to the person who has the MOST ducks wins,
could do it another way aswell person with the ticket to the Least ducks wins, there for encouraging thier fellow team mates not to get a duck.

If you need encouraging to not get a duck, then you are not fit to represent the club

Personally, I would rather see something that unless someone predicts results, scores etc, exactly correctly, then the money rolls over to the next week.
Similar to Oakley and the Football Club, where in years gone by, the fund has reached £2000.
I know it is with a different sport, and on a smaller scale, but attracts more participants

true andy, could have a board by the bar or something, £1 a week, roll over untill score comes in.

like that one!!
think this would have to be based around 3rd XI innings score. If you did it for saturdays games you would miss out on lots of cash.
So every week people pay 50p a go choose as many numbers as they like between 0-300 (however once the number is chosen its gone) then if that number of runs is scored it goes to that person. but if not its a roll-over and people do it again next week!
Andy tu es un genius!

Good thinking. That way, those playing on a Saturday can still have a go and do not need to be there for the game in question.
Do you reckon you will make it tonight Lee? If its going to be a struggle, don't worry. Hardly anyone came last year, and that was because they couldn't be bothered, rather than because they couldn't get there.
Also, there is a Railway quiz next Wednesday if you are available
