RUGBY WORLD CUP FINAL vs PRESENTATION NIGHTproblem: England in the rugby wolrd cup final.
situation:well although it was never expected to happen this year but some how we have reached the final. Thje finla night i am told clashes with the presentation evening!
for seeable problems: there being a poor turn out to the evening.
possible solutions:
a)the evening to be put backto a different date,
b)arranging the evening around the rugby,
c) commitee arranging something.
outcome: tbc

do not worry yourselves boys
Smithy spoke to me and said if we were to get to the final he would put it on down the club and tell the DJ to hold off until the games is over. Kick off at 9 so hopefully
6pm - POOL + DARTS COMP
7.30 - Presentations
8.00 - Rugby Final
9.30 - Celebrations kick-off!
Come on England!

Further to earlier comments, I feel that some of what I said last weekend has been taken out of context. I did say that one solution would be to screen the rugby as an integral part of the presentation. However, this is not a decision that I can make. The final decision needs to be down to the committee, the members and people who turn up on the evening. Tickets will be £5.00 per head with buffet included.

I stand correct Mark and I apologise if I did take what you said out of context...
I guess I now worry no-one will turn up!

I personally have no objection to the timetable suggested in the earlier post. However this is not a decision that I have the authority to make. I would also ask all people to remember that there is a work party planned for Saturday to take the nets down etc. I would suggest 10 O Clock in the morning.

I for one will not be attending unless the Rugby is shown.
This isn't meant as a harsh or childish comment, but if we cant accomodate what most people want (and I am sure watching a world cup final is) then it probably will one of the most poorest turned out presentation nights.
So someone needs to contact the people who can make a decision and let everyone know ASAP !
COME ON ENGLAND.

TO ALL MEMBERS
this is where we could meet the club/committee halfway...as long as they agree to meet us!
if we can get a good party of people down the club for 10 to help with whatever Mark needs.....then hopefully the club will look favourably on this and reward with the game being shown. This sounds the fairest solution...and the most productive.
If people dont turn up to help then complain about not having it on it sounds like a case of trying to have you cake and eat it. Now I cant guarantee a hole day down there as I have already weeks ago arranged something else for the day but I can do an hour stint and if everyone did that at times they can then that is a large help
So come on guys as the England Rugby team has shown...IF YOU PUT THE EFFORT IN YOU WILL BE REWARDED!

dnt want to sound petty but not all people can go and help in morning so having rugby on should be nothing to do with that if rugby is not on will b poor show i reckon but i should be there to take nets down

Tommy
I am not saying EVERYONE must go down.....and you are right if people want to watch the game they can go to a pub or watch at home and not have to help anyone do anything.
What I am saying is everyone in this club goes on about getting team spirit....bonding....improving the club etc.....but not everyone does anything about it.
If people come down and help in the morning even for 1 hour.....muck in...be a team..bond.....then we should be able to get the rugby on in the evening....and ALL WATCH IT IN THE SAME PLACE...BE A TEAM....are you seeing my point.
Mark cannot 100% agree to the rugby because in essence it is a cricket presentation and people are paying £5 for that reason....if people were to complain then he has no choice. What I am saying is when people scratch each others backs they are more inclined to be willing to give back....and wouldnt you (club members in general) prefer we all watch and HOPEFULLY celebrate together? If the answer is no....then we have a more serious issue?

Taking the nets down has really nothing to do with the Rugby has it really ?
We should all want to (if we can) help take down the nets we have been using all summer simple as that.
If the club doesnt want to show the Rugby, no problems I will go somewhere else and watch it, hence not attending the Presentation night.
Who do I need to ask 'Permission' to have the game on ?
The Chairman ?
I will call him and ask and if he says no - so be it !
Quite simple hey ?

Forget I said anything...obviously asking people for help gets you nowhere!
I am sure the rugby will be on no matter what but asking people to help out on nets is not a crime
and this mail although targeting the rugby is about any issue where people want something from the club....
fact of life sadly but sometimes people want something to give something!

I hope everyone comes down and helps out for an hour or so Saturday...
Sadly we know only a few of us will turn up as usual.
Count me in, I will be there from 1030 as it usually takes 30mins of messing around before anything starts.

Only the same handful of people turn up to work parties anyway, no matter what the incentive.
In my un-worldworthy opinion, the rugby should be shown no matter what. Additionally, people shouldn“t lean on Smiffy to make this happen, as it should be a general concensous.
I think we will all watch the game at the club if it is on, hence putting money behind the bar

I have spoken to Colin Semple this morning, and there is no reason why the rugby should not be screened. However, it is felt that 7.30 is too early for the presentations, so he has suggested that these take place at half time. The band would then commence at approximately 9.30pm following the rugby. I also see no problem with the evening startine at 6.00 pm to accomodate a Pool/Darts competition as Lee has suggested.
